| Q1: |
What is spray tanning |
| |
|
| A1: |
Spray tanning is a safe and effective way of dying the top layer of skin brown to make it appear as though you have a natural sun kissed tan. It works by applying a special mist to the body. The mist is applied while you stand in our portable booth. The active ingredient is dihydroxyacetone (DHA). |
| |
|
| Q2: |
What is DHA? |
| |
|
| A2: |
The most effective sunless tanning products contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient. DHA is often derived from plant sources such as sugar beets and sugar cane, by the fermentation of glycerine. It interacts with the amino acids in dead skin cells to produce a brown colour change.
DHA is not absorbed through the skin into the body and is non-toxic. |
| |
|
| Q3: |
What about allergic reactions? |
| |
|
| A3: |
Our sunless tanning solutions are hypoallergenic — oil-free, alcohol-free, and fragrance-free, designed specifically for hypersensitive skin. Our solution manufacturers use only the purest, essential ingredients necessary for optimal results.
If you have a history of hypersensitivity, you should check with your doctor first. |
| |
|
| Q4: |
What does the tan look like? |
| |
|
| A4: |
Our spray on tan looks just like the real thing and fades naturally over time. Gone are the days of orange looking skin! The bronzer will wash off in the first bath or shower. The final tan can take up to 8 hours to fully develop to a golden brown colour. |
| |
|
| Q5: |
Will freckles show up more? |
| |
|
| A5: |
You will find that freckles will blend in with the rest of the skin as it get darker – just like a real tan. |
| |
|
| Q6: |
Does it wash off? |
| |
|
| A6: |
As the actual tanning product is clear in its natural form, a bronzer is added as a colour guide and to aid uniform application. The bronzer will wash of during your first shower or bath, but you will be left with a wonderful tan. It gradually fades (just like a real tan) as the dead skin cells fall from the skin. |
| |
|
| Q7: |
Does it stain your clothes? |
| |
|
| A7: |
During the initial 8 hour development stage you may find that the bronzer transfers to clothing. Light coloured fabrics may stain and avoid wearing light coloured nylon, silk or wool fabrics after treatment. Other light coloured fabrics may stain slightly but the stains should wash out. We recommend you wear loose dark clothing during this period until you have your first shower or bath. |
| |
|
| Q8: |
What should I wear during the spray tan application? |
| |
|
| A8: |
You are provided with a free disposable thong, cap and feet pads. However, attire for women is whatever you are comfortable with. Attire for men is boxers, swim trunks or shorts. Your tanning specialist will use the utmost discretion. |
| |
|
| Q9: |
Where can I be sprayed? |
| |
|
| A9: |
I have a portable spraying cubicle - you need floor space of approximately 7ft high x 3ft for the booth plus room for me to stand in to spray. |
| |
|
| Q10: |
Will it go all over my front room? |
| |
|
| A10: |
No. The portable tanning cubicle will ensure that your home is completely unaffected by my visit. |
| |
|
| Q11: |
How long will the tan last? |
| |
|
| A11: |
Typically a spray tan will last for between 5-10 days. In a similar manner to a sun tan, it fades gradually as your body sheds the dead skin cells. Moisturising regularly will help to prolong the life of your tan. With follow up applications, a person can maintain the tan indefinitely.
To prolong the life of you tan we recommend that you follow the guidelines on skin preparation and aftercare |
| |
|
| Q12: |

|
| Q25: |
Can a spray tan be removed? |
| |
|
| A25: |
The colour produced by a tan does not wash off; it simply fades as the upper layers of the epidermis wear away. You can try to speed the exfoliation process by gently scrubbing the skin with a washcloth or loofah sponge. DO NOT OVER SCRUB! It may take a week or more for the "tanned" skin to disappear |
| |
|
| Q26: |
Is a spray tan safe? |
| |
|
| A26: |
Yes! Sunless or self-tanning products that contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient have been used in cosmetic preparations for almost 30 years. It is declared safe and suitable for use in cosmetics and drugs used to colour the skin. DHA is derived from glycerin (vegetable origin), which is a commonly used cosmetic and food ingredient. DHA is not absorbed into the body and poses no possibility of toxicity. A spray tan gives you the perfect no risk tan free from the risks associated with sunbeds and UV tanning, but with no compromise on the results. |
| |
|
| Q27: |
What happens if I inhale any of the tan mist? |
| |
|
| A27: |
While no one should purposely inhale or ingest the tan mist, it is known that DHA (the active tanning ingredient) is a non-hazardous compound and causes no adverse reaction in moderate quantities when applied topically or even ingested. DHA has been used as a diet supplement in sports nutrition and is non-carcinogenic. Testing has further shown that DHA is less toxic than aspirin, caffeine and even common table salt. |

|
| Q28: |
Will swimming affect my Mobile - Tan? |
| |
|
| A28: |
Swimming in chlorinated water or salt water can fade the results, cause possible streaking and will diminish the length of your tan.
Long exposure to water, with or without chlorine, will fade your sunless tan.
Your outer skin cells will start to soak up water, and that dilutes the effect of the sunless tan. The longer you are in the water, the worse it will be. Using sunless tanners regularly over a period of time will saturate the skin better and the sunless tan will hold up longer in water, but it will still be affected. Some people report that applying a waterproof sunscreen before they get in the water prevents their sunless tan from fading as quickly. |
| |
|
| Q29: |
Should I shave before or after the spray tan application?* |
| |
|
| A29: |
Shaving is a form of exfoliation so you should shave about 8 hours before the application. Shaving after will take off some of your tan, so shave before. After your application, be sure to use a new razor as old dull blades can mar your reuslts. |
| |
|
| Q30: |
Does a spray tan provide SPF protection? |
| |
|
| A30: |
No! Spray Tans do not provide any sunscreen protection, so you should apply sunscreen accordingly. Your skin will appear tanned, even though it's not. This is an artificial tan. There is no Sun Protection Factor (SPF) so your skin is still exposed and vulnerable to the sun. If you choose to expose your skin to UV rays either from the sun or a tanning bed, it is important to use a lotion with SPF to protect you from the sun's harmful rays. |
| |
|
| Q31: |
What is the advantage of a spray tanning over UV tanning? |
| |
|
| A31: |
Spray tanning is an alternative form of tanning without exposure to harmful UV rays. People with sensitive skin or people who have a hard time tanning, be it natural or in tanning beds will find this form of tanning very comforting. One application with spray tanning will be equivalent to approximately 6 tanning bed sessions, thus making it cost effective. Spray tanning also spares the skin of excessive wear and tear and free from potential burns caused by the sun or tanning beds.

| |
|
| Q32: |
Do I need a secondary application? |
| |
|
| A32: |
No, just one single application will give a rich golden colour that lasts for 5 - 7 days depending on your skin type and aftercare routine. The colour fades like a natural tan. |
| |
|
| Q33: |
How often can I get a spray tan? |
| |
|
| A33: |
As often as you like - the formula is completely safe and DHA is approved for cosmetic use. Many people like to top up their tan once a week and it is completely safe to do so. |
| |
|

| |
|
| Q36: |
As a man, are there any additional pre or post care needs? |
| |
|
| A36: |
Shave at least a few hours before tanning your face to avoid bristles or any irritation from interfering with your results. Ensure your face is free of any cuts before starting to spray.
If you have body hair, don't worry the fine mist will penetrate through to your skin. |
